Kristof Dhont - Why People Love and Exploit Animals
Dr. Kristof Dhont is a psychological scientist and a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Kent. He investigates the psychological underpinnings of people's exploitative and compassionate attitudes towards animals and the implications for people's meat consumption behaviour.
He also studies the ideological roots of speciesism, racism, and sexism, and how these different types of biases are interconnected. He is Director and founder of SHARKLab, a research lab dedicated to the psychological study of human-animal relations at the University of Kent.
He published widely in prominent academic journals and currently serves as Associate Editor for the journal Group Processes & Intergroup Relations and as Consulting Editor for the European Journal of Personality.
